In 1999 MISA secured the mandate from the Uganda Government to develop a new oil pipeline between Eldoret in Kenya and Kampala as a wholly private sector undertaking. The pipeline would help alleviate the over-use of oil transportation by road. With the support of the US Government, by 2001, MISA completed a multi-million dollar design, engineering, and environmental study as part of a broader feasibility study that is currently being undertaken.
Although subsequently the Uganda Government decided that the project should be implemented as a public-private partnership, MISA was ready to commence execution of the project together with our partner Shell Oil.
Other infrastructure project under active consideration include: - Power transmission between Uganda and Tanzania - Fibre optic infrastructure in Uganda - Expansion of railway and shipping infrastructure on Lake Victoria and from Mombasa. |
